Litco Law’s Mass Tort Representation with HSH

Jun 7, 2021

If a person is injured due to someone else’s negligence, we would typically file a Personal Injury claim. However, when several people are injured, we pursue legal action through a Mass Tort or Class Action lawsuit. Together with Howie, Sacks, & Henry LLP (HSH), Litco Law is representing the victims of negligence and wrongdoing.

Most people are familiar with Mass Tort or Class Action Lawsuits thanks to high-profile cases in the media, but the majority of cases never make it into the public eye. These types of cases range from lawsuits against drugs like ESSURE to talcum powder linked to cancer. Litco Law is currently representing families from Alberta who have lost loved ones in the Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 plane crash that occurred in Iran on January 8, 2020. What is the difference between Mass Tort & Class Action Lawsuits?
In a Class Action lawsuit, a single person must step forward as the face of the group of those injured and act as the representative for the case. Mass Tort Action allows an injured person to bring an individual case against a company alongside other people in similar situations, meaning that each claim will be resolved individually. Wondering which type of legal action is right for you?
It typically comes down to the individual and their desired outcome. Each type of legal action comes with certain advantages or disadvantages, depending on the case. A Personal Injury lawyer will be able to help you decide the course of action that’s right for you.

IMPORTANT! If you agree to an insurance company’s settlement offer, you give up your legal right to pursue a personal injury claim. It is best to assess the full extent of your injuries and how they will affect your life before you accept an offer. Please note that you have a maximum of two years from the date of the accident to file an injury claim in Alberta.
