Our team and clients have told us loud and clear that environmental issues are really important to them. They reduce, reuse, and recycle at home and now they can do the same at our offices. These days we’re feeling pretty green and we wanted to share what we’re doing with you.
We’re pleased to say that our new Britannia Crossing office in southwest Calgary is LEED-certified. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) is a rating system that is recognized as the international mark of excellence for green building in over 160 countries. Green buildings, such as Britannia Crossing, create a healthier indoor environment for occupants through better indoor air quality, less harmful products, and more natural daylight.

LEED buildings reduce waste, conserve energy, decrease water consumption, and drive innovation. We’ve also installed LED lighting at both our Britannia Crossing and International Avenue offices and added sensor light switches in order to only light rooms when they are occupied. Our office now includes low-flow toilets and ultramodern high-efficiency “chill beam” heating and cooling systems.
The new building is great, but that’s just the beginning. Every day you can see how our team have embraced our new environment with a new “green” attitude. Our workspaces now feature:
- Recycling bins for cans and bottles in all client and team areas
- Paper recycling at all workstations
- Paperless files
- No bottled water, just filtered tap water
- All paper used is FSC® certified, mixed paper from sustainable and recycled sources
- All coffee pods are recycled or composted
- Reusable cutlery and dishes
What’s next, and what we’re most excited about, is our new electronic file system coming in November 2016. We’ve been able to reduce our office footprint due to a reduced need for file storage. We’ll be sharing more information about our new systems and what they’ll mean for our staff and clients as they come online over the next number of weeks.
We’re not going to stop here. We’ve got ideas for an office composting program or even a “living wall” of plants to bring the out-of-doors inside for our guests and staff to enjoy year-round. One thing is for sure: our future is bright (and green).
